Hebrews Collage

An arrangement of the Book of Hebrews for the worship of Jesus and the encouragement of the Body.

Reading the book that deals wholly with placing Jesus as supreme over every entity, leader, system, and tradition we are tempted to esteem is the perfect salve, grounding and comforting, to the noisy fractious shadows of this age.

Jesus, we worship You as God in essence, man by choice. We worship you as greater than angels, than Moses, than holy places, rites and traditions—the priesthood and sacrifice systems and Sabbath rest are mere copies, imprints and whispers of fading glories. Your blood is the most precious substance and since we are covered and cleansed by it, now and forever, we exhort one another to courage like that of Your saints.

Brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, we have received in and through King Jesus a better:

hope
covenant
promise
sacrifice
possession
country
resurrection
plan
word

Hebrews 7:19, 7:22, 8:6, 9:23, 10:34, 11:16, 11:35, 11:40, 12:24

Therefore, since:

the promise of entering his rest still stands;
we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens,
Jesus the Son of God;
we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place
by the blood of Jesus;
we have a great priest over the house of God;
we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses; and
we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken—

Let us:

be careful not to fail to receive his rest;
hold firmly to the faith we profess;
approach the throne of grace with confidence;
draw near to God with sincere hearts and
with the full assurance faith brings;
hold unswervingly to hope;
spur one another on toward love and good deeds;
throw off everything that hinders;
run with perseverance the race marked out for us;
fix our eyes on Jesus; and
be thankful,
and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.

Hebrews 4:1, 4:14-16, 10:19-25, 12:1-2, 12:28

Amen.
